The Golden Valley area is on the western edge of Herefordshire, adjacent to Wales. It is a deeply rural and tranquil area covering an area approximately 9 miles long and 6 miles wide.

By Car
The Golden Valley, has no motorways or even A roads but is still accessible. The principle road is the B4348 on the eastern edge. Allow just over 3 hours drive from London Heathrow airport and 1¾ hours from Birmingham airport although times and distance will vary depending on the final destination, route chosen and weather and traffic conditions.

Distances to Peterchurch are approximately:
London 140 miles, Birmingham 78 miles, Cardiff 65 miles and Manchester 146 miles.
Car Hire is available from most major car hire companies at airports, cities and major towns throughout the UK.
By Air
The nearest major international airport is Birmingham (BHX) with daily scheduled flights from withib the UK many European hubs and America. A larger choice of flights and destinations is available into Heathrow Airport (LHR), 25 miles west of London on the M4 motorway.
By Rail
Hereford or Abergavenny (Cardiff – Manchester line only) are the most convenient stations for Golden Valley destinations.

- From Birmingham New Street, direct trains run to Hereford via Worcester. Journey time is approximately 1¾ hours. www.centraltrains.co.uk

- From Paddington Station, London take the First Great Western service to Newport and change onto Arriva Train service from Cardiff to Manchester. The First Great Western Cotswold line via Oxford and Worcester offers an alternative and scenic route with some direct trains or with one change. Journey times are approximately 3 hours by either route.

- Other major cities and towns with regular direct services to Hereford include Shrewsbury, Crewe, Nottingham.

By Coach / Bus
National Express Coaches operate a London via Heathrow to Gloucester & Hereford service. There is also a daily each way (including Sundays) journey from Aberdare (S Wales) to Bradford via Abergavenny, Pontrilas and Hereford.

Public Transport within the Golden Valley area is limited. Route 39 (40 on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays) between Hereford and Brecon via Hay-on-Wye travels along the B4348. There are some buses to Abbeydore and beyond linking with the hourly express bus services X3 or X4 between Hereford and Cardiff at Pontrilas.
